Notes from Côn Đảo trip

1.
We the people wake up and move everyday by some common motivations
Money - Sex - Power - Fame
Money seems indispensable
Sex is part of basic instinct
Power erases the questions of one's importance
Fame helps escape loneliness
But how about freedom
I wonder how many of us people
Are constantly troubed getting free?

2.
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
For this trip I had these first-time experience:
- Take a long walk/hike of 13km alone on the mountain road.
- Spend 24 hours straight, alone on the beach
- Use sleeping bag to spend the night alone by the ocean
- Shit into the sand on the beach in the morning
- Get people freaked out thinkng I might have committed suicide somewhere on the island because I dont come back to my hotel room at night
- Eat the freakingly expensive fresh abalone (1 million VND per kg), it is tasteless

3.
I'm the saint lying in the middle of the wild reading fiction books
I'm the freaky creature hiding from you and the sunlight
I'm the sneaky ghost smilling at you in the dark
I am beauty and I am beast
Sleeing in the parade of moonlight
I am all and more and higher than mortal man.

4.
This society is not yet evolved. They look at lone travellers as either criminals running from the law, or weirdos trying to commit suicide.

5.
Now I know why I'm growing more and more fond of little kids
It's their innocent eyes that could melt my soul
Those eyes I rarely find in grown-ups
More rarely in the North than the South
And when I overhear the Northern people talking around
Then look into their eyes
Suddenly I realize
The North is fucked-up.

6.
Along with your pretty face, lovely body, and gentle posture
How can I be sure you are not a fucked-up?

7.
People are all over the place. If they just keep on moving and talking without stopping from time to time for a long moment of stillness, then there'll just be no difference between them and ants.

8.
Sometimes I fail to care about others' ignorance, whether it's their ignorance towards common sense or towards me. I just fail to care about giving them adequate explanation of the matter. Sometimes things are better kept unsaid or unexplained, because they and their consequences would be inevitable. If someone fails to acknowledge the flow of matters, it's none of my business to try making them change their point of view or understand things out of the reach of their conciousness.

9.
I've spotted you in the madding crowd
With lovely eyes and hair and neck
With girly gestures of your own
Then the announcer informed our flight board was opened
It was all over when you stood up and joined the long queuing line
Turned out I had overestimated all the signs
Foolishly connect all your appearance with your soul
It became pure pain to sit there seeing you try to cut corner
So I simply lost it and had to let you go
And looked back down into my book
Oh well
So much for such beauty
Eventhough we'd be on the same flight
And soon I realized
However I tried to escape
I would still stuck in your madding crowd.

10.
Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
Is like an Anime cartoon of the world of fiction books.
